Ignatian Spirituality
The spiritual teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, or the Jesuits as they are commonly known, stretches back to the 16th century. This holy man was chosen by God to influence the Church and the world at a time of radical social upheaval, the Reformation and Counter-Reformation. The life lessons St. Ignatius taught to his followers became known as the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola and they are as relevant today as they were then.
Many Jesuits have been great thinkers and have shaped culture. In fact, here in the United States, the Jesuits are responsible for sponsoring more colleges, universities and secondary schools than any other single religious order. The MCCS seeks to introduce the wisdom of Ignatius and his followers through the Daily Ignatian Reflection, Fr. Spitzer's homilies, and the Ignatian Blog.
