Friday of the First Week of Lent

Lent has always been associated as time in which we all can do some spiritual housecleaning. Ignatius, in his Spiritual Exercises saw such housecleaning as the first step in the right direction for a surer movement towards God. One of the suggestions he provides is to pay attention to just one fault and track its presence throughout the day.  Keep a list of times when we have done something, in thought, word, or deed, that we wish to change. Starting small and just keeping track of one action we wish to change may seem insignificant but the surest movement towards success is one small step at time. A small success trumps grandiose plans of spiritual feats and the enemy of our human nature  fears small progress far more than enormous aspirations.
